Experiments in the rain
Enchanted Path

Enchanted Path : the path to Tadiyendamol; wet, fresh and green in the rain.

There we were last Saturday, [info]bchandan and I, with plastic sheets over ourselves and our bags, walking on the path to Tadiyendamol, enjoying the rain and the lush green that surrounded us. The adventure started when we went around a small hill closer to the base of the peak, where the wind howled across the valley and the water got to us not caring for the plastic sheets we were trying to put between ourselves and the rain. The experiments started when we tried to put up the tent without getting ourselves completely wet; we did put up the tent but got ourselves completely wet in the process. We decided to wait and see if the weather got any better, it did not and only got worse; in the mean time a few other day-trippers came along and enquired on the distance to the peak from there: the visibility was about 60ft and we told everyone it was an hours climb from there, a few went forward but came back pretty soon. After having our lunch in the tent, we too decided to pack up; waited for a slight letup in the rain and packed up the tent as quickly as we could and headed back, towards Mysore, with a plan to visit Somnathpur the next day.

My trip was memorable, it was a little warm and dry when we went up. The first light is the most beautiful sight from the top. Also the stars in the sky. They were so clear and bright :)

Yes, the first light is indeed beautiful from the top; and the stars too, especially on a moonless night.

Why doesn't LJ display my openid profile name but the URL?

This is what LJ has to say:

BETA:
Our OpenID consumer support is very new. That is, external users logging in with their identity here will find some rough edges while we work on smoothing it all out.

Our server support is relatively complete, though.

It does create an account for you:

guess you can go there and change the name, or just wait :)

very lovely and rich. though practical experience of seeing leeches crawl out in this area in the rains kinda takes away some of the beauty :)

Thanks. Leeches crawl out everywhere in the ghats in the rain. Winter is the best time for these places and if you are lucky you may get to extraordinary beauty.
