Coonoor

Coonoor : along the NMR.
We could not take the whole journey from Ooty to Mettupalyam but we did take the Ooty-Coonoor section in both directions Saturday afternoon. This section is 'normal gradient' and so the rack and pinion system is not used and the train moves with a diesel engine, the section after Coonoor towards Mettupalyam is 'steep gradient' where the rack and pinion is used and the train runs with a steam engine.

I think the low angle makes all the difference.

*please insert my usual non-technical appreciation here*...it's a beautiful photo essay on the NMR.

Since I started following your photographs, I find your style evolving (this is apart from the shapes/forms/geometry sensibility)...can't articulate it better than that...but you are maturing....I hope to follow your work for many more years!

an incomplete photo essay, we spent most of the time at the Ooty station and we didn't take the whole journey; the line itself requires more time, exploring each of the stations and the small towns around them.

Love that first pics - particularly in b/w give it a dramatic sense!

I need to visit this area sometime! Beautiful!

liked the first photo a lot. seems a bit like a hindi movie sequence where hero is looking for his lost wife and mother of two kids (who he has brought up alone). she got estranged from the family because of a big misunderstanding. tear jerker in the making. boo hoo...!!

you see, she actually missed this train. and he thinks that she changed her mind. that's all for now. the movie ends there...(thereby keeping it open for sequel) close and mist covers the screen. hehe :)
